The Marine Microbial Library/Database

The central part of Aquapharm’s rationale is the maintenance and development of its library of marine bacteria & fungi. The company is constantly building this library through an active programme of collection from diverse and sometimes extreme marine habitats. This has enabled the company to develop a valuable database of information relating to the natural product & biological properties associated with individual microbes.

Aquapharm considers its microbial library & associated database an important & valuable resource essential to the company. A dedicated curator is employed to develop, record and maintain the library, as well as to progress new isolation, culturing and storage techniques.

The diversity of marine microbes within Aquapharm’s library has already provided an exciting opportunity for new compound discovery into its core product areas;
